What should I do about this?

Ok, so my friend liked this guy last year and I think she got over him. Well anywayz, I wasn't her friend then so I kinda told him that she liked him and now I like him. I know, confusing. Well her and my other friend told him that I like him and now he is asking everyone who I am and when I wait for my mom to pick me up from school I have to hide behind the trashcan because I don't want to talk to him. It's soo weird and I don't know what I should do. I wanted us to grow gradually and then I would tell him but they just went out and told him and now I am so confused. I don't want to hide behind the trashcan everyday and I see him EVERYDAY! This just happened today btw.
