I REALLY WANT TO GET INTO COLUMBIA!?
I'm a freshman in a top of the line, upper cl college prep private high school. Getting into Columbia's journalism/sociology/philanthropy program is literally my dream. i know of their low accpetance rate, and i know that they want TRULY outstanding students who do great things, hence i plan on taking my entire summer to go learn/volunteer in southeast Africa, helping kids/providing healthcare/etc. grades are easily do-able by anyone, so i'll do as well as possible in APs and SATS/ACTs and maintain a great GPA. another thing that compels me to go into a journalism is because i hate the fact that corporate news giants such as fox/cnn/cnbc etc. don't cover everything, and literally only tell people what they want to hear/ want the people to hear, and furthermore all these companies are controlled by so many other aspects of the market that it's ridiculous. hence i would want to do well in journalism so i could go work for a company like pulitzer which actually provides aspects of the news to the fullest extent, and with the most factual basis. so yeah, columbia alum would be helpful in answering, or anyone who has ties to the school. please tell me other things i could do to get in. I REALLY WANT TO GO THERE.
