Do you really think Bush wont go this far?

With all this National Security and Homeland Security Presidential Directive bullshit so loosely defined... whats to stop Bush from invoking his powers before the election and postponing (or even canceling) the 2008 election. Does anyone else feel that with all the ridiculous choices Bush has made, it wouldn't be too absurd for him to just seize the country. Technically he has the Power to do so. All he has to do is make up some excuse or set up another attack, he no longer needs Congress' approval to do what he wants. Between the PATRIOT Act and NSHSPD I believe the average US citizen is screwed... please respond with intelligent answers.
