A oneness or an oneness?

which sounds better? I think a oneness, even though it's not technically grammatically correct, sounds better. An oneness...? what is that? it just doesn't sound right to me. maybe someone could make it sound right...? (I'm still going to use a oneness, i just want to know if other people think it's odd)
